I guess I'm just stubborn.

I've never really liked apples. I guess I mean, I've never just liked eating an apple. And I know why too...

I've always gotten images of how things should be in my head.

My image of how an apple should be came from Sesame Street. I wonder, do they still have the same opening with all the kids? Probably not.

Anyways, at some point in this opening there are apples.

There not red.

There not green.

They are red, blushed with green, and just a bit of yellow. Like those apples you see in romanticist period paintings. So I saw those apples, and I imagined how they would taste when I was little...

They were crisp.

Brittle crisp.

And sweet, so sweet.

But, tart, just tart enough to have a great tang . . .

My mom, is a red delicious fan. She loves apples, probably her favorite fruit. So I grew up with red delicious in the house...

They are red.

No beautiful, romanticist period blushes of green and gold.

They are sweet.

No tart to provide that so important tang on the back of your tongue.

They are crisp,

But they are not brittle.

So like I said, I've never really liked apples.

Sure I'd eat the occasional Granny Smith, but as good as they are they still did not have what it takes to fill my Sesame Street inspired vision of what a apple should be.

Like I said, I'm stubborn.

I still buy apples now and again only to usually have them go bad.

This week I bought Braeburn Apples.

They are red, blushed with green and gold.

(I've seen this in other apples before, but non were crisp.)

They are crisp! AND they are brittle!

Sweet, and tart packing that all important tang!

So I guess my stubbornness paid off.

Years of buying apples that were just going to go bad are at an end.

I finally have an apple that fulfills my expectations, and yes, proves the point that I am certifiably weird.
