A new place to lay down my words.
Saturday, May 26th, 2001 @ Evening

I'm applying ink to a brand new journal today.

I had a red pen In my pocket, but somehow red just didn't seem o fit the start of something new.

I know that it must be blue or black. Not having found a suitable black pen, know that blue flows across these pages.

I wish my favorite pens came in more colors. Uni-ball gel impacts only come in red, blue, and black to my knowledge. I long to write in an antique shade of red, or an alive olive, perhaps even a deep wheaty yellow.

So, enough said about inks.

I do believe that this is the third time I have ventured out for a new journal, but none spoke to me. However, this one has quickly grown on me. The others were either way to expensive, the incorrect shape, or just somehow didn't feel' right. In regards to shape I like something untraditional. Your normal garden variety 8.5 by 11 rectangle just is not going to cut it.

My last journal of the last eight years was near square and has a simple blueprint blue cover with a Prussian blue binding.

I think I would like a long skinny rectangle, like that of a legal sized envelop, wider then it's length.

This journal did not particularly call to me.

It's just a typical rectangle, and it's cover is not the required blank slate. Rather it is covered, front and back, with breathtaking sacred lotuses hovering above the waters surface on gently arching stems.

Really it is quiet beautiful.

Even with all of it's perceived faults, I guess it will actually work quite nicely for the laying down of words.

I just had a lovely meal at a wonderful window seat . . .

The rain is abating, and the garden is beckoning to me, winding it's delicate tendrils around my being.
