The rest of the class was at P.E.

Mateo was being a little shit, as he normally is, and had to stay in to finish work from my class.

He gets done, and is reading a book on dinosaurs.

I'm at my desk, putting grades into my grade book, I look up to find him standing there. Just staring.

Yeah, he is kinda weird.

"What do you need, Mateo?"

"Mr. Madrigle, I found that dinosaur you were talking about that has feathers."

"Oh cool, Mateo. Archaeopteryx?"

"Yeah, I think so."

He shows me the page in the book.

"Hmmm." I wonder aloud, "Do you think it is a meat eater, or a plant eater?"

I might as well have asked him if it was a sharptooth, or a longtail.

He looked at me like I was talking baby talk.

"Mr. Madrigle, It has sharp cutting teeth. It's a CARNIVORE." He deadpans.

I love when little kids pay attention.
