Patient. Probably the compliment most often given to me, in regards to my teaching. (I think I'm repeating myself) Anyway, that's not necessarily a bad thing, however, today reconfirmed my belief that certain kids need a swift kick in the ass. A trip to the woodshed, hell, a whole afternoon in the woodshed, in a 19th century sort of fashion. So, given that facet of my personal philosophy of education I'm not really sure it really jives with the whole 'patient' compliment. Some kids already have the whole Thug persona down pat. It drives me nuts that being 'patient' with them is about the only strategy left to teachers in this day and age. Good lord, he needs some interventions. Not having an impact on that kid today, it just left me feeling crappy and useless. He has teachers that have NOT given up on him and his smug, I'll cut you someday attitude. Cut someone I'm sure he will do. Sad. WE ALL FALL DOWN
