My paycheck was nearly twice what it should be. Thank God for TAKS bonuses. (TAKS is the standardized test on which EVERYTHING is judged here in Texas.)

I'm painting jealousy. I just want to stay home and paint it.

My sister said she felt like we were entering hells chapel, when we went to the Rothko chapel. The huge panels are in tones of black, and oppresively big. I explained that he commited suicide soon after completing them. I don't think the painting feel evil, but I do think they contain his anquish. I wonder if he would have painted more of them if he could have exorcised the pain from his heart.
