Autumn
Monday, September 26, 2005 @ 7:58 a.m.

I'm an Autumnal kind of guy. It's my very favorite season. The balmyness of the afternoons, the cool biting mornings. The leaves turning from green to gold, and even Autumn oranges if you know where to look in the desert southwest. I'm happiest with myself in the Fall. I keep momentos of Autumn around me the rest of the year. Rust colors here, golds there. Repeating myself, but I adore the fall.

My sister got to my place late Saturday night, in from a four and half hour drive from El Paso. We decided the extra hour to my Brother's was not going to happen that night. We broke out the air matress for the kids and my Sister bunked with me. We talked of life, and decorating, and how happy she is that I'm making a little home here. How I never made a home in Houston. How I just lived there. She says I've nested hear in Albuquerque more then I ever nested in Houston and she's right. We awoke the next morning. We brushed our teeth and threw on baseball caps to get an extra early start on our way to my brothers. Stopped for breakfast burritos and coffee at flying star, walked the Nob Hill shops and peeked through the windows, "That's the stoneware I've coveted for the last eight years." "That's the china that goes with the salad service I got you for your birthday." "That's the salon I would recommend if you are really serious about changing your hair style." All in the space of 15 minutes then we were piled back in the suburban, driving on old route 66, cutting off at Tijeras through the Monzanos and admiring the subtle blaze of fall color there that is on the precipice of erupting into its full glory. I love my siblings, and this weekend of working hard together was a fantastic experience of bonding and loving each other.

Love to you.
