communicating is a funny bussiness.

I left a message on Joel's machine inviting him to dinner with Corazon, her beau and her sister's family. I didn't expect him to get home in time anyway, but wanted him to know he was invited. Anyway. a hour later I was bathing the dogs and couldn't pick up the phone when he called back, half an hour later I was able to get to the phone listen to the message in which he didn't acknowledge the dinner invite at all. Just said he was checking on me and hoped I had a good day. Weird, considering my message had detailed the time and even the location of the restaurant. I called him 4 times over the next hour and a half, the line was perpetually busy. So, I show up at the restaurant 10 minutes early to get a table for Corazon and the rest of the group, and was suprised to see Joel walk in. He seemed nervous. Evidently he had ended up there to meet some frinds of his. Completely independently. It was really weird. I asked if he had got my message, he said yes, but then didn't offer anything at all. No, I already had plans with my friends, or even, how strange it was that we had ended up at the same whole in the wall chinese place. I don't know. It's just weird. And not the first time we've had miscomunications especially when the answering machine is involved. This kind of complication really, really bugs me. I already have drama about being understood so this language barrier thing, this nodding of heads and saying we understand each other when really we haven't got a fucking clue, this not being able to decipher voicemails, really severely bugs. People often tell me they wish they had my patience, you can't have it. I'm going to need every single last shred of it. I can tell.

I'm working at the gallery next Friday. It should be fun. It's first Friday and the whole arts community will be hopping from gallery to gallery. Fun.
