-- links -- cookbook Wednesday, May. 31, 2006 @ 2:56 p.m. Alright Zuzu and Boann7, here is the process so far. What I did was print out a color referance shot of the original still life. Then I took that same color referance, desaturated it to gray tones, then lightenened the overall image in the saturation control so that all the detail remained, but the whole gray scale image was significantly lightened so as I can overpaint the image without it getting to dark to quickly. What I've done so far is brush the gray scale image with two layers of polymer medium and prepared a 12 by 16 inch panel to a very smooth finish. Soon I'll brush a layer of clear medium onto the panel and press the printed image into this wet medium, burnish the back side to ensure good adhesion then let it dry. Once it is dry I'll peel the paper off, the paper comes off (mostly) and the ink from the print remains trapped in the polymer medium, then you let the polymer cure a couple of days and then the rest of the paper can be buffed off leaving only the ink embedded in the medium which can ben be painted on just like any other layer of acrylic paint.
