Mellow Melodies have arrived
Saturday, January 5th, 2002 @ 4:13 p.m.

Well, my Thibouville Frerres vintage wooden clarinet arrived today.

Yay! Happy day!

It sounds so nice, it needs a bit of work, but is playable.

The tone is really nice, especially the high notes. They have a clear vocal tone to them, where as my little plastic beginning students clarinet, well basically screeched them out.

Which brings me to my point.

I don't think beginners equipment is the way to go.

Really.

I mean, it is usually marginally crappy and instead of offering the beginner an easier start it usually presents at least some sort of technical obstacle. In the case of my beginners model it was always tone. But this wonderful instrument has brought instant mellow warmth to my playing.

LOVE IT.

Once I get the guys at H&H music to give it a once over it will be even more wonderful.

In other news, Shawn and I are doing wonderfully. Were going to church tomorrow, something I'm really looking forward to, and something I'm thankful for in the beginning of this new year. Then were going to his friends house in the late afternoon to fix dinner and hang out and then watch the new Queer as Folk Season premier on Showtime. It should be a great day.

Love to you!

P.S. I turned on the notes function in my profile. I'm not sure what the point of having notes and a guestbook is, but their.
