Dream: I'm a father!
Thursday, April the 4th, 2002 @ 6:10 a.m.

Ok so I had this dream.

It's all in a fog right now, but there was something otherworldly about it. Prophetic. Supernatural. Not in real life mind you, in the dream, it's quality.

Anyway, I had sex with this girl. I don't remember what she looked like, or how this came to be. My dream observer self was watching my dream self do all this. My two dream selves were completely unaware of each other.

So, anyway, I think it was like 9 months later or something. I'm eating at Taco bell. This dangerous looking street kid brings my dream self a baby, says it's mine and sets it down on the bench next to me. My dream observer self was freekin out! "You can't just leave the baby, I'm not ready to be a dad!!" My dream self, the one actually participating in the dream calmly finished eating before, really, even acknowledging the baby. I was tormented between calling social services or just raising the child as my own. My dream self was all for calling social services till I picked up the little guy and held him. He was soooo soooo tiny, not the big baby like my nieces and nephews had been, but he had my nose. I fell in love.

One of the main concerns in the dream was, what was Mia going to think of the baby? My observer self, was all "OOOOhh no! Little bucko, your not replacing Mia!" Ok, so I didn't say that in the dream but that was what the observer self's basic sentiment was. The actual dream self was completely enthralled with the little guy, all thoughts of Mia's welfare were out the window.

When I woke up it all seemed to be very, "Bless the Child-ish" You know, the movie.

In the dream, I was all concerned, even in those very first few moments about how I was going to develop all those little synapse, and neural pathways, that I only had 3 short little years to get them developed. It was all just really odd.

***

I mixed equal parts Sumatran and Ethiopian this morning. It is really tasty, but I much prefer the flavors that either of the single origin coffees impart on their own.
