Bali H'ai
Wednesday, August 13, 2003 @ 9:33 p.m.

So evidently my happy as a lark, whistling craze was noticed yesterday.

Principal Salsa Del Fuego called me to the office around 2. I thought the area superintendent must have arrived to offer me the science specialist job but when I got to the office Salsa had a mischievous glimmer in her eye. She had me close her office door, and through sporadic giggles asked me what tune I was whistling while I worked yesterday. I'm sure I turned a 100 shades of red, and assumed a sheepish demeanor. Now Salsa is a cool cat, if there ever was one. And I've never come out to her, but well you just know when someone knows. So I fessed up and Admitted it was Abba's Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, a man after midnight. At which we both giggled some more. She regained her composure and reminded me that their is always someone listening. And always someone stirring the gossip pot. We both agreed in the future that as I whistle while I work I might want to refrain from Abba songs altogether.

I was singing show tunes today in the copy room. I'm of the opinion my Don't cry for me Argentina was my most rousing rendition, but I've also been told by Mrs. Flywet that my South Pacific medley was truly inspired.

I wonder if Salsa and I will be giggling in her office again tomorrow? I think I've become a gossip fodder whore.

Bali Ha'i may call you,

Any night, any day,

In your heart, you'll hear it call you:

"Come away...Come away."

Bali Ha'i will whisper

In the wind of the sea:

"Here am I, your special island!

Come to me, come to me!"
