The Da Vinci Code
Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004 @ 10:00 a.m.

I've only managed to sleep in three hour stretches the last couple of days.

The culprit? A read of course.

Dan Brown's, The Da Vinci Code captivated me in a way no book has in a very long time. I had been reading Frank Herbert's, Dune inhaling it in prolonged stretches, a daily 500 page mantra. Flipping back to the first page as soon as I had finished because I love it, and well because I lacked anything else to read. I had been ignoring The Da Vinci Code, it's splashy success turning me away from its cryptic title. But I was desperate for a new read, a new author, and finally broke down to read it Friday night after a coworker thrust it into my hands with the order to read it. I think I may have particularly enjoyed it because of my prior knowledge of some of the books that are woven into its text. Books that some call pseudo history, and others denounce as blasphemous heresy. At any rate, even with the prior knowledge of what was most likely to happen next I found it a VERY enjoyable read. Now I need to sleep.

Hugs.
