Hmm, So . . . I'm home in Deming for the weekend. It happens to be Duck Race weekend, which means that people from all over creation come to my small, rather un interesting hometown, to watch, yes, Ducks race. I know, it's a odd concept to wrap your head around. It's frighteningly popular though. I tell friends the entire experience is even enhanced by the presence of Japanese tourists. I mean, you know an event has arrived if our friends from across the Pacific choose to come and enjoy it. So, basically there is a track, or rather a chute, a loud starting pistol to single the "go" for the racers, and the handlers, who are racing the, probably rather frightened, ducks. It's an odd display. I know. I havn't been in years, and I doubt I'll go this weekend, but I am looking forward to the hotair balloon glow tonight. Some other events of mention, are the outhouse race, basically outhouses on wheels, pushed by a team of pushers and steared by the person occupying the throne. The tortilla toss, for which the local tortillaria makes special, they would crack a tooth they are so hard, tortillas, and depending on the year, the great american over-land canoe race. Hey it's the desert. Why should the lack of a body of water prevent us from having a canoe race. I'm just saying. Anyway. I just felt like babbling. I apologize for the poor quality of this entry.
