"Not painting for others approval"-that always sounds valid,of course. But what it turns out to is that you are paiting with having in mind "I wont show this to anyone anyway" and that is how its not getting something equal to you. That is how your work will become "hidden",you know:the image, the message will become cloaked. For noone to see! I think you arent doing yourself a favor when youre saying:I dont paint for others to see it anyway. You think it saves you, cause like this noone can hurt you.But you cant reach noone either. And the sad thing is it will deface and defigure your art.---Imagine youre a comdedian. So you think up jokes, but you plan to never tell them. You know, you have thought them up with the purpose in mind already not to tell them.--Or its like buying a dress or clothes that you will NEVER wear in public.Do you see how the purpose gets lost? And imagine those clothes. Probably they will be some that you CANT show in public. And its the same concept you are doing to your art when you say its created in order not to show. Do you get that hitch?

I've been in the place where you are in now. Just don't doubt that you are extremely gifted. Once you go down the road of self-doubt things begin to get really ugly. When was the last time you painted for fun? *hugs* X

Well, not being a painter I can't say "Oooh I so relate, 'cos I can't, but I get the hermit thing. There's nothing wrong with dabbling...sometimes dabbling in one thing can join up with another previous dabble thing and then you have a whole new thing. Sort of thing... xox
