Free sketching

Oh my, the design bug has hit me in a big way. All I want to do lately is scetch another ring or pendant ( They seem to be my latest craze)

So far my designs have been rather modern.

My last jewelry class a couple of years back, I seemed to be in a classic mode with a contemporary flare.

Actually that last ring was kind of modern/baroque.

A combination of a large emarald cut amathyst and two black pearl cabochons in an asymetrical arrangement.

then today I was messing with perpendicular lines and came up with the design for a double cross composed of fine silver square tubing and gold square rod I was sketching and sketching and sketching. I was nearly done before the symbolism of the stones came to me....

Father [amathyst], Son [peridot], Holy ghost [an empty bezel or a cz]....... The seven wounds of crist [garnets] and the three Marys weeping at the base of the cross [not sure yet perhaps aquamarine since Mary, the mother of God, robe's were supposed to be blue]

Things get so interesting when you actually stand back and look at what you 've been doing.
