1/4 pound lean chopped pork (� cubes)

1/4 pound small peeled and devaned shrimp

� pound asparagus in 1 inch lengths

� tsp Vietnamese chili paste

1 � tsp oyster sauce

3 shakes of golden mountain soy sauce

5 shakes of fish sauce

� teaspoon granulated fructose, or 1 scant teaspoon sugar

1 bunch green onions cut on the diagonal in 1 inch pieces

� red bell pepper in narrow 1 inch long rectangles

unsalted chicken stock

peanut or canola oil

Stir fry meats in 1 tsp oil. Add the various sauces. When half cooked add a tablespoon of stock or so, and the vegetables except for the bell pepper. Stir vigorously, when meat is nearly done, add half a package of bean threads that have been soaked in water for 5 minutes, then drained. This is about 4 little bricks of dried bean thread. Also add the red bell pepper. Chow thoroughly, and turn out onto platter. Excellent with a bit of lime juice and fish sauce. This becomes extra special when a handful of Thai. basil is tossed in at the last minute. MMMMmmm Excellent substitute for fried rice

I concocted this after having mega, Thai Style fried rice cravings today. I think it made a VERY satisfying substitute. Next time I'll add an egg to the mix, like Noung Yow used to, I guess it just slipped my mind. That or I'm out of practice.
